The Lafayette/Acadiana Chapter of the Federal Bar Association will host a New Attorney Swearing In Ceremony and State of the Western District CLE Presentation on November 5, 2025.  Honorable David C. Joseph will preside over the Ceremony which will be conducted in Courtroom 1 in the United States District Court located at 800 Lafayette Street, Lafayette, LA  70501.  The Ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m.  Newly admitted attorneys will be sworn in for admission to the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana. After the Ceremony, the Federal Judiciary will conduct a one (1) hour CLE Presentation in order to address the State of the Western District which will include District Court developments, District Court status and important information and statistics.  A reception will follow the CLE Presentation.  Newly admitted attorneys are encouraged to attend.  The Ceremony and CLE Presentation are open to all attorneys at no charge.  For more information or to register, contact FBA Chapter President Ken St. Pé at kds@stpelaw.com.

The one (1) hour CLE will be presented by District Judges with the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana.  The presentation will include recent developments in the Western District, statistical information regarding the Western District and updates from the Judges relevant to the Western District and Federal Court practitioners. 

Please note that if you are a newly admitted attorney that will be sworn in at the ceremony and if you have not already done so, please complete your Application for Admission to the Western District of Louisiana in advance of the ceremony.  You can complete and submit your Application utilizing the following link: https://www.lawd.uscourts.gov/admission-applications.  The Application for Admission should be submitted by October 31, 2025.
