FULL ADMISSION:

Who Steps to Follow
Attorney
  1. Log into Manage My Account (redirects to PACER) with the attorney's INDIVIDUAL account.
  2. Ensure your account type is "Upgraded PACER Account."  If it is not, please click the provided link that allows you to upgrade.
  3. Click the Maintenance tab.
  4. Click the Attorney Admissions / E-File Registration Link.
  5. Follow the prompts and provide the required information as indicated by the red asterisks.  NOTE: The Western District of Louisiana requires two attachments: 1) Endorsement Certificate and 2) Certificate of Good Standing (dated within the last 6 months).
  6. Click the Attorney Admissions and E-File button on the appropriate screen and follow the prompts.
Court
  1. Review the Admission Application and required attachments for compliance with local rules and court policies.
  2. Send Admission Fee payment request to the applying attorney via e-mail.
Attorney
  1. Receives payment request email and clicks link to make payment.
Court
  1. Verifies payment received. (Attorney is considered admitted to practice at this point.)
  2. Prints Certificate of Admission and mails it to the newly admitted attorney.

 

ADMISSION PRO HAC VICE:

Who Steps to Follow
Attorney
  1. Draft your own Motion to Appear Pro Hac Vice or use the court provided FORM.
  2. Have local counsel file the motion into the applicable case along with a recently dated (within last 6 months) certificate of good standing. NOTE: The admission fee will be paid electronically during this process.
Court
  1. Performs quality control checks on the motion, and will refer it to the assigned magistrate judge for signature.
  2. If the motion is granted, the court will add the applying attorney to the case and docket the order.
Attorney
  1. After the order granting the motion is filed, if the applying attorney does not have e-filing access to this court, he/she can request e-filing access by logging into Manage My Account (redirects to PACER) with the attorney's INDIVIDUAL account.
  2. Ensure your account type is "Upgraded PACER Account."  If it is not, please click the provided link that allows you to upgrade.
  3. Click the Maintenance tab.
  4. Click the Attorney Admissions / E-File Registration Link.
  5. Click the Pro Hac Vice button on the appropriate page.
  6. Follow the prompts and provide the required information as indicated by the red asterisks.
